Jonathan Alvin Ph.D. – Clinical Psychologist; Candidate in Psychoanalysis; Founder

Jonathan received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology in 2022 and became licensed as a clinical psychologist in the state of Illinois in 2023. In 2024, Jonathan opened Wonder Institute for Psychological Health in Wheaton, Illinois with an interest in providing high quality of psychoanalytic psychotherapy to people in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. 

Jonathan has undergone advanced training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, a treatment approach that aims to help people gain insight and self-understanding. Jonathan teaches psychoanalytic psychotherapy to doctoral psychology students at Wheaton College and psychodynamic psychotherapy to counseling students at Roosevelt University. He is also clinical associate faculty at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis. 

Jonathan’s research interests include a variety of topics from the psychoanalytic tradition including Freud, Winnicott, and Bion as well as traumatic experiences of annihilation, destuction, and cultural trauma.
